A downloadable game

Dungeons and Dopamine is an award-winning board game built around my studies of player psychology. Predominantly, analysing the possibility of the positive application of reactance and variable ratio schedule in analogue games.

Dungeons and Dopamine is a 'procedural' dungeon crawling board game. It was a solo games design project I completed from Sep 2022 - May 2023. Throughout the development of Dungeons and Dopamine, I was responsible for:

- The research into the industry standards for board game development, focusing on rules design, card design, card layouts and syntax analysis.

- Playtesting Dungeons and Dopamine prototypes and receiving user feedback, and using this to fuel the iterative development cycle.

- Card design, creating modular card assets that ease the development process.

- Communication with the game's artist to ensure the game's art style remains consistent with the original vision.

- Rules design, and game balance, focusing on User-Experience, looking at variable ratio schedule as a way to add tension to player choice.

- Rulebook, game box and card creation, keeping consistent with the game's art style.
